HS Winter Art Show and Concert

The Visual Arts Department welcomed the community to the Winter Art Show Reception this past Wednesday evening. This exhibition showcases the work of students taking art and new media classes this semester and will be on display in the Visual Arts Wing until the break. 

The Performing Arts Department's annual Winter Concert was a huge success!  Senior Lena Voss accompanied the Concert Choir singing The Great Clear Twilight.  Senior Eugene Ahn performed Christmas Rhapsody, an original composition on the piano. The concert concluded with Senior Ryan Melanson conducting the Concert Band’s rendition of Sleigh Ride.

13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview - Heads to METG Finals

We are excited to announce that we have secured the rights to be able to do another public performance of "13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview" before the students head to the State Finals.

The show will be on Tuesday, 3/28 @ 6:30pm in the Ferrini.  Admission is FREE (suggested donation of $10 goes to support Theatre Workshop).  

We're beyond excited to share this piece of art with you and hope you are able to come support the large cast and crew.

6th District Congressional Art Show

The 6th District Congressional Art Show, sponsored by Congressman Seth Moulton and Montserrat College of Art, was held from March 16-18 in Montserrat’s main gallery at 23 Essex St., Beverly.

The competition was open to students in grades 10-12 in the public and private high schools in the Sixth Essex Massachusetts Congressional District including home-schooled students.

The show closed with an awards reception with Congressman Seth Moulton, and Montserrat Interim President Brian Pellinen on Saturday, March 18 from 3:30-5 pm.

Six Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School students submitted artwork to the exhibition and competition and three received recognitions.  During the reception, certificates were awarded by Congressman Moulton and winners received varying amounts of scholarships to Montserrat College of Art’s summer Pre-College Program.

HWRHS Theatre Workshop Advances to Semifinals!


METG Preliminary Round Awards for Theatre Workshop 

  • Isabelle Tanch won an All Star Company Acting award for their performance as Interviewer 1
  • Jake Bassinger and Jake Flynn won an All Star Company Award for their physical comedy in ensemble pantomime scenes
  • Eugene Ahn won an All Star Company Award for his original composition and performance of a musical score

    Back by popular demand, we have added a second public performance of "13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview" next week.

    The show will be on Wednesday, 3/15 @ 6:30pm in the Ferrini Dramatics Center.  

    Tickets are free (suggested donation is $10, which goes to support Theatre Workshop).


    METG Semifinals Performance
     

     "13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview" will be performing in the semifinal round of METG at Westford Academy on Saturday, 3/18.  They will be going second at 10:30am.

    13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview


    Due to the incoming storm, "13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview" will now be performed at North Reading HS on Sunday @ 12:15pm ($15 at the door).


    The local One Act performance has been moved to this Thursday evening 3/2 due to the potential winter weather on Friday evening.  The new time is 5:00pm to allow enough time for people to also attend the SC Meeting or the Hockey game that night.  Please come out and support our large cast and crew before they get to head to North Reading this weekend.  They did their tech rehearsal there last night and are excited to share the show with you.

    Scholastic Art and Writing Awards 2022-2023

    The Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School Visual Arts Department is proud to announce that our students have received one gold key, one silver key and one honorable mention in the 2022-2023 Boston Globe Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.  Established in 1923, the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are the longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in the United States.  Gold Key recipients are currently being reviewed by national jurors, and will be announced in March.

    Upcoming Art Events

    HWRHS Winter Art Show Reception, 12/14 at 6:00pm

     

    The Winter Art Show will be on display during the month of December in the visual arts wing at HWRHS. The Art Show features work from the students taking visual art classes this semester. The reception will take place on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm in the visual arts wing. Light refreshments will be served.  We hope to see you there!

     

     

    HWRHS Winter Concert, 12/14 at 7:00pm 

     

    The Fine and Performing Arts Department of Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School will present the annual Winter Concert on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. in the Ferrini Dramatics Center at the Regional.  The Winter Concert is free and open to all members of the community.  The program will include a wide variety of pieces to be performed by the Concert Band, Jazz Band, Concert Choir, and Harmony.  Please join us for an exciting evening of music led by Director of Bands, Erik Fecke and Director of Choirs, Katie Simko. The student performers have been preparing for the concert since September and are eager to share their music with you!


    Miles River Middle School Winter Concert, 12/20 at 7:00pm 

     

    The Fine and Performing Arts Department of Miles River Middle School will present the annual Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. in the Ferrini Dramatics Center. This is located at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School, 775 Bay Road in S. Hamilton.  The Winter Concert is free and open to all members of the community. Performances will include a variety of music from the band, chorus, jazz band and chorale.  Please join us for a lively evening of music led by Director of Bands, Erik Fecke and Director of Choirs, Katie Simko.  The student performers have been preparing for the concert since September and are eager to share their music with you. We hope to see you there!
