What are the Boston Globe Scholastic Art and Writing Awards?
Each year, the Alliance partners with more than 100 visual and literary-arts organizations across the country to bring the Awards to local communities. Teens in grades 7 through 12 apply in 28 categories of art and writing. Submissions are juried by luminaries in the visual and literary arts, some of whom are past award recipients. Panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.
Last year, students submitted 255,000 works of art and writing to the Awards; more than 68,000 were recognized at the regional level and celebrated in local exhibitions and ceremonies. The top 2,000 works in the country earned National Medals and were celebrated at a ceremony at Carnegie Hall.

Each teacher can only submit a maximum number of entries so just check in with him/her first. Once you check with your teacher he or she will help you do the following:

Submissions for the 2015 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards will begin on September 15, 2014. To get started, visit our SIGN UP PAGE. Be sure that you have your school zip code handy so that we can get you the guidelines and deadline for your Local Program.
Create!
The Scholastic Awards look for work that demonstrates technical skill, personal voice or vision, and originality. After you have created your work, uploaded it to your Scholastic Awards Account! Click HERE to see examples of works from past National Medalists.
Stamp it and Send It!
After uploading your work, print your submission forms, have a parent/guardian and an educator sign them, then give them to your art teacher who will mail them to your Local Program.
